Ambolt AI is a Nordic AI house rooted in Aalborg with cases across industries and international markets. We are invited to contribute when the digital future of Europe is being shaped – and we deliver solutions that combine technology with real human value.
Our story
We founded Ambolt AI in 2016 as three friends who loved working with data but didn’t want to be labeled simply as “developers” or “consultants.” Instead, we joked about being “data smiths,” forging insights out of raw data the way a blacksmith shapes metal. The name stuck — and soon after, so did Ambolt, the Danish word for anvil. It felt right: solid, hands-on, and built to last.
In the early days, we worked out of a small office, fueled by too many energy drinks and an endless sense of curiosity. What started as passion-driven projects quickly proved that AI, when applied with purpose, can create real impact.
One of our turning points came during the COVID-19 pandemic, when we collaborated with the Norwegian healthcare platform Helseboka. Our solutions helped support vaccination logistics on a national scale. Around the same time, what began almost as an inside joke among colleagues grew into something much bigger — the Danish AI Championship (DM i AI). Born from the idea that AI should be fun, competitive, and accessible, the event has since expanded to Norway and is on its way to becoming a Nordic tradition.
Today, we’ve grown into an international team with roots in Aalborg and ambitions across the Nordics. We’re still driven by the same spirit of craftsmanship, curiosity, and collaboration — just with a bit less energy drinks, a bit more coffee, and a vision that continues to grow.

Today, Ambolt AI has grown into a team of dedicated specialists who combine technical expertise with creativity, curiosity, and a strong sense of community. From our base in Aalborg, we now deliver AI solutions across the Nordics and beyond, from healthcare and industry to mobility and energy.
Beyond client projects, we are also co-organizers of the Danish AI Championship (DM i AI), which has become a platform for developing talent and connecting students, researchers, and industry. What began as a fun idea is now shaping the next generation of Nordic AI innovation.
What started with three “data smiths” around a small office has become an international AI house, invited to contribute when Europe’s digital future is being shaped. And while our projects have expanded, our habits have too. The energy drinks have long since been replaced by coffee, but the same values of craftsmanship, collaboration, and impact remain.
